The Unblind

"I have seen the extent of how blinded people are...
every day, their only chance in unconditional love...
passes them by at every traffic stop...
sits always next to them at the movies...
waits in cue in front of them at Starbucks

and always eats breakfast a table further away from them...

And they miss it...
every time...

They blink for just one second and it’s gone.
Something draws their attention away...
He decides to wipe his glasses at the exact time she passes by...
they always seem to focus on a baby that cries...
she gets absorbed by the song playing on her IPod at the time...
or sometimes, instead of turning to his left...
he turns to the right, distracted by the blond in the tiny skirt...

perfectly equipped with all the tools to satisfy...
his porn influenced criteria.

Words we hear...
nothing more than a habit to our ears...
the good mornings and goodbyes between lovers...
not knowing they are actually strangers...
the conversations and rhetorical arguments amongst strangers...

not knowing they are lovers...
An infusion to the mind, or to the heart...

...A chemotherapy for loneliness."
